“Count on us” – Ticona offers a glimpse of the future at K 2010

Düsseldorf / Germany, June 16, 2010 - Ticona, one of the world's leading engineering plastics companies, will be appearing at K 2010 in Düsseldorf under the banner "Count on us." Their exhibition concept is tailored to the themes of Future Mobility, Customer Innovations, Advanced Living and Preserving Nature. It will highlight the trends currently driving the industry and the solutions that Ticona has developed for the future. The multimedia stand will illustrate these themes for the visitors with a visual, playful flair.

In working closely together with its customers, Ticona's primary focus is on reliability. So it was no accident that the company chose "Count on us" as their motto for K 2010. "We see our role as that of a pathfinder for our customers. Because our activity extends well beyond that of a material supplier," says Maria Ciliberti, Commercial Director Europe, Ticona, in reference to this year's trade fair motto. "Our comprehensive technical services guide our customers along the entire process chain, from the idea to the finished product." Ticona places special emphasis here on intensive consulting services in a project context, supporting its customers with trend analyses, material selection, component design, tool layout, CAE simulations, and the optimization of production processes.

Explaining, demonstrating and making sense of things

"Highly specialized plastics and their technical applications are topics that can be difficult to grasp, but we want to make them accessible and exciting for our visitors," says Maria Ciliberti. That's why Ticona plans to take full advantage of multimedia technology on the trade fair stand, installing large multi-touch displays that explain the products, the applications, and the four major themes. They will illustrate how Ticona works with its customers and where the company sets its priorities. In combination with the exhibits, this will enable the stand to provide a good general overview, while also offering visitors the opportunity to examine specific topics or thematic aspects in detail at the same time. Renowned experts from industry and society will be holding lectures and discussing the major corporate themes at regular intervals. The list of speakers includes automotive coryphaeus Professor Ferdinand Dudenhöffer (CAR Center Automotive Research, University of Duisburg-Essen), who will speak directly from the stand on the topic of "Future Mobility" and future developments in automotive construction. The entertainment program will feature, among other prominent figures, the television chef Kolja Kleeberg, whose "tasteful" presentation will also use utensils that contain Ticona plastics.

Pioneering projects and innovative materials

This year Ticona's K stand will highlight four overarching business areas. Current projects, applications and products will play a major role here: over the past year, for example, Ticona worked closely with the Swiss company Rinspeed on the development of a concept car. The project resulted in a visionary electric car, including a complete mobility concept for the future.  So the "UC?" concept car will be shown at K as one of the highlights in the "Future Mobility" area. Current product innovations, applications and developments will be exhibited in the "Customer Innovations" area of the stand. "Advanced Living" will display the areas where Ticona plastics are used in daily life: from the kitchen to leisure activities, and from medical applications to the world of work. In the "Preserving Nature" area, Ticona will address environmental and climate protection. Sustainable technologies with potential for the future will be highlighted here along with materials that conserve resources, have low emissions and also help save energy. In addition, Ticona will present its collaboration with other companies in joint environmental and climate protection projects, such as its partnership with the Center for Fuel Cell Technology (ZBT) in Duisburg. For K 2010, ZBT will be providing, among other things, a fuel cell that demonstrates how Ticona plastics have been used in this application.
